Hi there. I’m Suzanne. I’m the ‘One Girl’ in One Girl Interiors, a boutique interior design service based in Melbourne. I love delivering beautiful spaces that make people smile.
My career path was driven by fashion. At age twelve I decided it would be great to have a job where I got to wear a suit to work every day. I got that sort of job. I led a marketing team for a big bank. Wearing a suit wasn’t quite as fun as I thought it would be. However, the heels were great.
I became really interested in interior design when living in London for a couple of years. I spent my weekends browsing gorgeous fabrics and wallpapers in boutiques like Designers Guild and Osborne and Little along Kings Road. Then I would come home with an arm full of interiors magazines and plan my dream house back in Melbourne.
When we did move back to Melbourne, I put my plans in action to create a family home, ready for the arrival of our two children. We renovated and extended the entire house. It was a big job. Only a few floorboards of the original house now remain. When we finished, there was a problem. I loved it so much, choosing everything from the tiles, to the taps, the window furnishings, to the furniture and artwork that I wanted to do it again.
With encouragement from friends and family, I decided to make a big change and follow my passion. So I added a Diploma of Interior Design to my Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Arts degrees.
I work on projects big and small. It’s such a privilege to be invited into other people’s homes. I have the dedication, enthusiasm and know-how to leave my clients with a smile and a special space that is uniquely them.
And, like Dorothy, I believe there is no place like home.
